Timo Scheider becomes DRX patron
Timo Scheider is having a very busy time with lots of new projects. And, as was just recently announced, he is to become patron of the DRX, the German Rally Cross championship. Timo Scheider, a German driver in the WRX, was most impressive last season, achieving great success as a rookie.
He finished tenth in the world championship in his first season and was also the top driver of all the privately entered teams. He is now set to become patron of the DRX. Having discovered a new passion in his very first rally cross race, it was always abundantly clear that he would be only too willing to take on the role, as he is a racing driver through and through.
The DRX season starts on the weekend of 14th/15th April 2018. More than 55 entrants are expected for the big season opener at the Lausitzring.
German rally cross plays an important part in the history of this sport, because it was in Germany, at the Estering to be precise, that rally cross as a sport became established back in the early 70s. The German Rally Cross Championship is the top rally cross series in Germany.
Super Cars and the Super 1600s contest the DRX – as in the World and European Championships.
The 2018 season features six meetings, taking in the Lausitzring, Gründau, the world-famous Estering, Schlüchtern and then it’s off to beautiful Belgium before heading to the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben for the season finale.
